This book uses an inventive rotating first-person technique that gets into the girls' minds and highlights their competitiveness and insecurities. This POV couriers a surprising and heartfelt twist at the end. If you were a fan of Rita's ethereal writing from her first book, this book has less, however, even though the colorful imagery and kookiness is muted a bit more, the deep dive in the minds of the characters is magnetic.
