8 hours agoYaroslav Amosov reveals he had massive black eye prior to UFC 328
A perfect training camp was disrupted by a sparring black eye two weeks before UFC 328, but Amosov stayed confident and adjusted as needed.
Green opened the UFC 328 main card action against fellow veteran Jeremy Stephens on Saturday at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Green took Stephens down and made him tap with a rear-naked choke late in the first round. Stephens had missed the lightweight limit by four pounds, forfeiting nearly 30% of his purse to Green.
Joshua Van and Tatsuro Taira produced an instant classic at UFC 328. Van and Taira received "Fight of the Night" honors and $100,000 apiece for their back-and-forth battle in Saturday's co-main event at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. After struggle to defend his opponent's takedowns early, Van began to assert his dominance on the feet, ultimately defeating Taira via technical knockout at the 1:32 mark of Round 5 to retain the 125-pound belt.
Taira opened the fight behind a sharp jab and quick calf kicks, wasting no time setting the tone. Before Van could even get going, Taira shot in on a takedown, bringing him down quickly and falling straight into mount.
Joaquin Buckley always looks to make an impression, and at UFC 328 media day he did just that replying to any questions regarding his opponent, Sean Brady, with one simple and short sentence. "May 9th the world going to know," Buckley told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday. Buckley (21-7) had said in the lead up to the fight that he had a run-in with Brady at the UFC's Performance Institute. Brady disputed the claim even going as far as to offer to get the footage from security cameras at the PI. Buckley didn't change his tune.
Fatherhood has taken all the pressure off me. It's not about Jared anymore. No matter what happens, the pressure's not on me, man. I could go, get paralyzed tomorrow and it doesn't matter because I have to move forward for my daughter.
