The Barcelona-based architecture firm External Reference led by Carmelo Zappulla was commissioned to design CAAA, a restaurant by chef Pietro Catalano, integrating gastronomy, design, and technology to create a unique experience in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Inspired by the culinary traditions and landscapes of the transalpine region, the restaurant's interior design pays homage to the Alps, with a ceiling resembling snow-capped mountains using custom 3D-printed organic pieces to envelop diners in a distinct ambiance.
External Reference's custom-designed furniture for the restaurant, made from ash wood to reflect the serene tones of mountainous climates, showcases a strong commitment to design at all scales, elevating the overall aesthetic.
