Gardaí have sealed off a large area on the grounds of University Hospital Limerick after a body was discovered by a staff member late Thursday night.
The area includes a large car park and adjoining greenways at the hospital, with Gardaí remaining on the scene, but no further details have been released.
Traffic queues formed due to a lack of parking as remaining car parks at the hospital were full amidst the investigation by Gardaí.
The Garda Press Office has claimed they were not aware of the body discovery when contacted for comments.
