David Folkenflik reported that the chief executive of The Washington Post, Will Lewis, repeatedly offered an exclusive interview to an NPR reporter in exchange for not covering allegations against him in a phone-hacking scandal in Britain.
Mr. Lewis's spokesperson confirmed the offer but declined to comment further when approached again by NPR. Lewis aggressively offered the interview while requesting the NPR reporter drop the story about the allegations.
