Mayor Eric Adams announced a 16.2% retroactive raise package for more than 2,300 interns and residents at NYC Health + Hospitals.
The package includes raising residents' starting salaries from $66,247 to $81,238 by December 2025 with additional lump sum bonuses of up to $6,000.
The doctors-in-training, represented by the Committee of Interns and Residents-Service Employees International Union, worked without a contract for over two years.
Adams recognizes their sacrifices during the pandemic by emphasizing the importance of fair compensation for frontline hospital workers.
