Neuralink Competitor Restores Vision in Blind Patients With Eye Implant
Briefly

CEO Max Hodak stated, 'To my knowledge, this is the first time that restoration of the ability to fluently read has ever been definitively shown in blind patients.' In preliminary trials, patients who were legally blind regained their central vision and were able to read and recognize faces after receiving the retina implants.
The device, called Prima, is a small photovoltaic chip implanted under the retina. It works in tandem with glasses with a built-in camera to transmit visual data, effectively converting it into electrical signals that stimulate the remaining retinal neurons.
Science Corporation acquired the technology behind Prima from Pixium Vision, and this breakthrough marks a significant advancement after previous companies in the retinal implant market, like Second Sight, faced bankruptcy.
Despite Neuralink's claims about its 'Blindsight' brain implant potentially restoring vision in those with lost optic nerves, Science Corp's inventions present a more immediate and tangible solution for patients suffering from severe vision loss.
