Losing a foot to diabetes is terrifying, and preventable. How doctors are trying to help | CBC News
Briefly

Duane Lea, a Toronto resident, fears losing his remaining leg to diabetes after losing his right foot to a blood clot. Untreated Type 2 diabetes can result in amputations, especially in Black communities.
Statistics show Black Canadians have higher rates of diabetes-related complications, including amputations. Dr. Azza Eissa emphasizes the importance of early screening to prevent severe outcomes.
"Delayed diagnosis plays a significant role in the epidemic of amputations among Black communities due to diabetes," says Dr. Azza Eissa, stressing the need for early detection and treatment.
