FBI director says Chinese spies 'burned down' their botnet
Briefly

FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed during a conference that the Chinese-backed Flax Typhoon group dismantled their botnet after the FBI took decisive action against them.
Wray explained that the FBI's Cyber National Mission Force, along with the NSA, worked to regain control over command and control servers of the botnet.
He mentioned how the Infrastructure was abandoned once the Chinese operators realized the scale of the FBI's response and capabilities in combating their operations.
A report noted that the Flax Typhoon crew was in possession of a database with 1.2 million records of compromised devices that could have been utilized in the botnet.
