In 2006, the power of football led to a skeptical, not risk-averse, but security-fanatical people really opening their arms and celebrating a big party. For me, as for millions of other people, it was a great moment in my life.
German film director Sonke Wortmann produced a documentary about the 2006 World Cup called 'Deutschland. Ein Sommermarchen' (Germany. A summer fairy tale). The title was a nod to the 1844 poem 'Germany. A Winter's Tale' by Heinrich Heine.
