20th Century Studios is negotiating with screenwriter Jack Paglen for a new Maze Runner film, described as a 'revival' rather than a remake or sequel to the original trilogy.
The new film will be a new story set in the same world as the previous movies, similar to the approach of the Planet of the Apes reboot timeline.
The original cast, including Dylan O'Brien, is not expected to return for the new film, which may or may not be based on James Dashner's Maze Runner sequel novels.
Wes Ball, director of The Maze Runner trilogy, will produce the new film alongside other producers.
