EQT snaps up API and identity management software company WSO2 for more than $600M | TechCrunch
Briefly

WSO2, a company that provides API management and identity and access management (IAM) services for businesses, has been acquired by Swedish investment giant EQT. The deal values WSO2 at 'more than' $600 million, with EQT securing a 'significant majority' stake.
WSO2's products include an open-source API manager akin to Google's Apigee and an Identity Server similar to Okta, helping companies build and integrate digital services across cloud or on-premises environments.
WSO2 co-founder and CEO, Sanjiva Weerawarana, has a strong track record in open source, contributing to Apache Software Foundation projects and designing the cloud-native Ballerina language. While having a U.S. HQ, WSO2 remains a well-distributed company with ties to Sri Lanka.
