Austin Community College board approves 4.5% raise, increasing hourly minimum wage to $23 - Austin Monitor
Briefly

ACC approved a 4.5% raise for employees and increased the minimum wage to $23, surpassing other Texas community colleges. However, some groups sought an 8.5% raise due to the high cost of living in Austin.
Executive Vice Chancellor Neil Vickers highlighted ACC's higher raises compared to other community colleges in Texas, with none offering more than 4%. Faculty Senate President Juan Molina emphasized the importance of wages enabling employees to not just survive but thrive.
DeRouen, from the Association of Professional-Technical Employees, stressed the increased workload without adequate compensation and the necessity for higher pay, especially as enrollment is rising at ACC.
Despite the 4.5% raise, faculty and staff expressed concerns about wages keeping pace with the cost of living in Austin and the need for adequate compensation to support both employees and student success.
