Google has expanded its AI-generated summaries to six new countries after addressing concerns over factually inaccurate information reported during its initial rollout. The AI feature, AI Overviews, is now available in Brazil, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, and Britain, with specific updates aimed at improving accuracy and user experience.
Hema Budaraju stated, 'I have enough evidence to say that quality is only improving.' This comes after a problematic initial launch where users reported inaccuracies, leading to significant revisions and the addition of safety measures to AI Overviews, ultimately enhancing user satisfaction.
The company added that the feature will now include hyperlinks to sources next to the AI-generated answers, mitigating some concerns from the media about losing referral traffic and giving consumers a clearer path to accurate information.
The new updates are being implemented as part of a strategy to enhance user trust and engagement, ensuring that users are directed to reliable sources while boosting the overall AI experience through feedback-driven improvements.
