Marvel's Wolverine is alive and killing. Four years after it was revealed at PlayStation Showcase, Sony's superhero slasher got a second trailer at the State of Play livestream on Wednesday. Just as it had been reported in the weeks leading up to the event, Insomniac Games unveiled a gory, gritty gameplay trailer for Marvel's Wolverine as the final announcement at State of Play. The Spider-Man developer also confirmed that its next superhero action-adventure title will launch on PS5 in fall 2026.
Podcaster and leaker NateTheHate spilled the beans on X early on Tuesday. It began the night before when people started asking him for information about when Sony's next showcase would be. "Sony has a presentation soon," he replied cryptically. Then earlier today he elaborated, "Next week." NateTheHate's had a good track record ever since he accurately reported on the Switch 2 reveal earlier this year, and a PlayStation event pegged to Tokyo Game show would make sense.
According to Insider Gaming, a new trailer for Wolverine has been finished for a potential debut at State of Play. Sony already had a State of Play this week for 007: First Light, and it hasn't yet announced plans for another one this month. Insider Gaming acknowledged the possibility that Wolverine's trailer could be pushed back to The Game Awards in December if the next State of Play isn't scheduled for this month.
