Al McBean, the first pitcher from the Virgin Islands to play in Major League Baseball, has passed away at age 85.
McBean spent most of his career with the Pirates, primarily working out of the bullpen and earning 63 saves, a retroactive statistic from before saves were officially recognized. [ more ]
