Kim Keon-hee took more than $200,000 in bribes and illegally intervened in state affairs, South Korean prosecutors say. A special prosecutor in South Korea has accused the wife of former President Yoon Suk-yeol of interfering in state affairs in return for expensive valuables and money. Min Jung-ki's comments on Monday came a day after he wrapped up a yearlong investigation into Yoon's brief imposition of martial law and other scandals related to the once-powerful couple.
Han is suspected of ordering her staff to deliver luxury gifts to Kim to curry favour with the former president. She also faces allegations of bribing a prominent MP with 100 million won ($72,000). Called True Mother by followers, Han is the widow of Unification Church founder Sun Myung Moon, who died in 2012. Founded in 1954, the church has long been the subject of controversy and criticism.
