The race, in its 12th edition, is often considered a trial run of sorts for Western States, as a large chunk of the middle section traverses the iconic Western States Trail, including the notorious Devil's Thumb climb, Deadwood Cemetery, and Cal Street.

The Madeira Island Ultra-Trail Legend 110k course travels point-to-point across the island, from Porto Moniz in the northwest to the town of Machico in the east.

On day five of an eight-day, 500-mile mountain bike race in Africa, Piers Constable found himself sprawled in the dirt for the second time. First he'd crashed on his left side, then on his right, until he was, in his own words, "muddied and bloodied," staring at a bike that was very much broken. He remembered a feed station a couple miles away and realized he had two choices: quit or run. He picked up the bike and ran.

Two-time OCC winner Miao Yao (China) ran 2:32:30 to finish 24th. Yao went through halfway in a quick 1:13:40 but faded in the second half. Yao's personal best is 2:30:13 from November 2025.
