Total funds collected could have covered the construction cost more than 30 times over. The M50 motorway is generating more than €500,000 in tolls every working day as traffic volumes continue to rise across Dublin's main routes. Figures show traffic on the motorway has steadily increased, from 30.5 million vehicles in 2021 to an estimated 42.5 million last year, contributing to slower commutes and higher levels of congestion on surrounding routes.
