On April 29th, the pairing system broke down when two Sweden Democrat members who had been paired off [out of the vote] participated in the vote. It may have been formally permitted. It was still not right. I can only speak for myself: But as an MP for the Sweden Democrats, I want to say sorry to the Speaker, to the opposition, to our partner parties and to the Swedish people.

Linda Lindberg stated that the move had been necessary to prevent 'drama-seeking independent MPs' from upsetting the system, emphasizing that important legislation must take precedence over independents.

They sent in two people to manipulate the outcome. This has never happened before... it doesn't look like anything else than conscious manipulation of the result.

The so-called teen deportations involve young people who receive deportation decisions from Sweden if their parents are granted permanent residency after they turn 18, as they are no longer able to be classified as dependants on their parents' permits. These young people are, given the way Sweden's school system works, usually still in high school (gymnasium).

According to Statistics Sweden's survey, the Social Democrats would get 36.2 percent of the vote, a significant increase ahead of the next election.
