Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, described as a "new kind of horror remake," follows a director (Hannah Einbinder) obsessed with the actress (Gillian Anderson) who played the "final girl" in a classic slasher movie.
Not only has the 2019 film about a vacationing family terrorized by a gang of lookalikes been praised for its blend of horror, dark humor and social commentary, it has an added element of intrigue of Santa Cruz residents: it has several scenes shot around town. Viewers should instantly recognize views of East Cliff Drive, Main Beach and the Boardwalk itself, making it the ideal venue to see this new perennial local favorite.
Halloween Horror Nights fans persuaded the Universal creative team behind the wildly-popular seasonal event to create a maze based on a no budget indie slasher film after seeing so many attendees wearing Art the Clown t-shirts. The Terrifier haunted houses will be part of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood on select nights Sept. 4 to Nov. 2 and Universal Orlando on Aug. 29 to Nov. 2.
