California ski resort reopens as workers clear debris from deadly avalanche
A California ski resort near Lake Tahoe reopened after an avalanche killed a skier, marking the first U.S. avalanche death of the winter.
Palisades Tahoe's KT-22 lift, serving the area hit by the snowslide, remained closed while crews cleared a road for snowcats and snowmobiles to enter.
The Sierra Avalanche Center warned of continuing dangerous avalanche conditions in the central Sierra backcountry. [ more ]
