A man seized on the Skyfari Sky Ride at Southwick’s Zoo and fell about 20–25 feet, was airlifted, and the ride was taken out of service.
"I was immediately rushed to the hospital, where I was placed on life support but, unfortunately, they weren't able to register any brain activity." It was "by some strange miracle," that he was saved by the "incredible" hospital staff, he went on to say. Since then, he has been recovering and has had to re-learn how to do basic things such as walk and eat.
When Rhian Haselip woke up feeling under the weather, she didn't think much of it. As a mother of two young children, fatigue and sniffles are part of everyday life. But as the hours passed, her mild discomfort gave way to intense nausea. Haselip remembers leaving her 7-year-old daughter, Jessica, and 3-year-old son, Brody, in front of the television while she ran upstairs to vomit.
