The Pacific Northwest may not be the first destination that comes to mind for fall foliage, but Washington state has some of the country's most spectacular autumn road trips. The 400-mile Cascade Loop is one such example, leading travelers past golden larches, alpine lakes, glaciated mountain passes, verdant farmlands, storybook towns, and rugged coastline. I've done this road trip many times-in smaller sections and as a complete loop.
