Massive dumping ground of WWII-era munitions discovered off Los Angeles coast
Scientists have discovered a massive dumping ground of military weaponry off the coast of Los Angeles, including munition boxes, smoke floats, and depth charges from the World War II era.
The discovery was made as part of an effort to map and understand the history of ocean dumping in the region, and it remains unclear what risk these discarded weapons pose to the environment. [ more ]
