Tech Executive Sold Banned Chinese Products to State Agencies, U.S. Says

A technology company owner in New Jersey allegedly defrauded public safety and law enforcement agencies out of $35 million by selling them banned Chinese surveillance and security equipment.
The owner, Tamer Zakhary, misrepresented the equipment he was selling, telling agencies that the products complied with U.S. regulations.
The charges against Zakhary reveal that law enforcement agencies in New Jersey purchased technology that the federal government considered a national security risk. [ more ]
