When I spoke in this chamber 12 months ago, I had just inherited a nation in crisis, with a stagnant economy, inflation at record levels, a wide-open border, horrendous recruitment for military and police, rampant crime at home and wars and chaos all over the world. But tonight, after just one year, I can say with dignity and pride that we have achieved a transformation like no one has ever seen before and a turnaround for the ages.

Out of all European militaries, Ukraine's armored forces stand as some of the strongest on the continent. With a tank force of more than 1,100, Ukraine has solidified its position as capable of sustaining prolonged operations with reasonable results against a far larger force. While Ukraine's tank force might be the most battle-tested in Europe, it is by no means the largest.

Aircraft carriers are the ultimate symbol of naval dominance, serving as floating airbases capable of projecting power all over the world. These carriers are home to strike aircraft, helicopters, and tactical transports capable of deploying at a moment's notice. In short, aircraft carriers are the crown jewel of any naval fleet. Their ability to control airspace, protect sea lanes, and deliver precision firepower makes them indispensable. Not to mention, only the most powerful navies in the world have these massive assets.

Canada impressively fields a significant number of frigates, ranking higher than many NATO allies in the number of these critical naval vessels, which enhances its maritime security.

Oil is the lifeblood of any modern military force. Aircraft, naval vessels, and vehicles rely heavily on the continued supply of oil to operate at peak efficiency.

Nations with outsized oil production like the US and Saudi Arabia gain economic and military strength, serving as a key indicator of their power on the global stage.
