Mets left-hander Minter is expected to miss the first few weeks of the season due to a torn lat injury, with an early May return targeted.

Actually, Jake went about his business as he usually did as a Met. He was elegant, he was efficient, he walked off the mound with nothing to regret on his end.
Brandon Sproat, one of the New York Mets' top pitching prospects, was switched to a bullpen role during his regularly scheduled appearance on Sunday with Triple-A Syracuse, potentially foreshadowing a call-up to the majors. The 24-year-old right-hander has been lights-out as of late in the minors, posting a 2.05 ERA with 57 strikeouts and a 0.850 WHIP across his last nine starts (48.1 innings pitched).
Since July 1, his ERA has ballooned to 5.09. From the start, many wondered if he would be able to hold up over an entire season. His late-season decline shows he still needs to build his arm strength. However, fortunately for New York, he was once an elite reliever, and he can make the transition back far easier than most starting pitchers.
