You can win a free '90s-era blue MetroCard from the MTA: here is how

Four limited-edition 1994-style blue MetroCards, preloaded with $15 or $6, will be given away before MetroCard retirement on December 31, 2025.

OMNY upgrades Oct. 3 10 p.m. to Oct. 5 7 p.m. will prevent buying or reloading cards; load accounts beforehand or use tap-to-pay.

Subway and bus base fares will rise to $3 in January 2026; OMNY replaces MetroCard and weekly fare caps limit rider spending.
