The Seattle Punk Rock Flea Market is part renegade art gallery, part unfathomable yard sale and part curated vintage mall, showcasing a blend of creativity and commerce.

I love reading about bands. I've read the AllMusic reviews of my favorite albums multiple times over. If my Apple Music selection has a writeup to go with, I'll read it. And I can read a good band book in a matter of hours. I'm not a professional nostalgia whore, but reading about these bands really does put me back in that time, and in that headspace. Like the music itself! I can't get enough of that particular high.

Every single element in the set is printed, no stickers anywhere, including new tile pieces featuring equalizer bars and musical note graphics that were debuted specifically for this set. The needle swivels and can be tucked behind a small antenna piece when not in use. Flip it around, and there are printed red, white, and grey ports on the back representing stereo channels, details that nobody asked for and that audio enthusiasts will immediately clock.

With our music, I particularly like to be on the extremes of things. So if it's supposed to be pretty in your face, I like to be fairly in your face. And then at the same time, if it's kind of warm and gentle, I like that to be as warm and gentle as possible. I'm interested in those juxtapositions and making those, that's how we want it to come across.

R&B in the 21st century has been in a constant state of flux, tugged between safe traditionalism and blurry attempts at progression. For the last decade-plus that "progression" has seen R&B music become more indebted to trap records and the moody atmospherics of alternative bands like Radiohead, Coldplay, or My Bloody Valentine.

But lately, you're likely to also find a half-done newspaper crossword, a ton of stationery, the book I've restarted three times, and whatever scraps and trinkets I've picked up throughout the day to put in my scrapbook. Analog is back, and it feels like we need it more than ever.

McCready's story captures the drive and sense of community that forged the powerful backbone of the Seattle music scene of the 1980s, as their world changed forever with the explosion of grunge in the '90s. Farewell to Seasons unflinchingly shows the brutal cost it had for so many artists and musicians as it captures the lived experience of that seminal era.

There, the meaning of the genre is described as a "feminine counterpart to 'divorced dad rock,'" but is also meant to conjure up images of your own hard-working '90s mom, driving you to baseball practice with the windows down and a cigarette in one hand.

American Football's highly anticipated LP4 arrives on May 1 via Polyvinyl, and after sharing the 8-minute first single, "Bad Moons," they've revealed a few more details about the album. It was produced by Sonny Diperri and features guest vocals from Brendan Yates of Turnstile, Caithlin De Marrais of Rainer Maria, and Wisp.

Last year saw the highest vinyl record sales since 1984, signaling a strong desire among music enthusiasts to return to a simpler time of physical media. Even cassette tapes are making a comeback, with major artists including Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift releasing their material on the iconic plastic, four-inch audio reels. Now, self-described "party slam" metal band Party Cannon is taking the nostalgia play - often framed as an act of defiance against greedy and AI-slop-infested streaming platforms - to a new level.

When Braid broke up, guitarist/secondary vocalist Chris Broach formed The Firebird Band, and the remaining three members - frontman Bob Nanna, bassist Todd Bell, and drummer Damon Atkinson - recruited guitarist Mark Dawursk of Alligator Gun and continued on as Hey Mercedes. They recorded it with Jawbox's J. Robbins, who had also produced Braid's classic 1998 swan song Frame & Canvas, and in many ways, it picked up where Frame & Canvas left off.

With their rugged blend of punk, emo, and post-hardcore, Hot Water Music had established themselves as a force to be reckoned with as far back as their 1997 debut album Fuel for the Hate Game. At first they had a loose, spindly sound, but they started to tighten things up on 2001's A Flight and a Crash (their first for Epitaph and first with producer Brian McTernan) and then they fully streamlined things with the following year's Caution (also on Epitaph and with Brian).

Cali indiepop greats Rocketship are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their 1996 debut album A Certain Smile, A Certain Sadness by giving it its first vinyl pressing since the original release. This is much needed as original copies fetch for over $200 in the secondary market. It's out March 20 via Slumberland and you can preorder it here. The album, which mixed sugary melodies and jangly guitars with shoegaze atmosphere and krautrock drone, sounds pretty fresh in 2026 and you can listen below.

"I came up with the concept of the girl with the smoking gun," Livermore told Riot Fest in a 2021 interview. "I can come up with ideas and relay them to an artist, but I can't draw at all. I went to Chris Appelgren, one of my main co-conspirators at Lookout!, and told him what I was envisioning. He drew it, but it wasn't quite right yet, so he drew it again, and everybody said, 'Yeah, that looks cool, but she looks too much like Chris's girlfriend,' which she did. The third time he drew it, that's the cover that became famous and is now on a whole lot of t-shirts."

Fresh off a trek with the B-52's late last year, the band announced a West Coast run aptly titled the Mutate, Don't Stagnate tour, and has now filled out its 2026 schedule with a batch of June dates in Eastern North America. All those shows will take place ahead of Devo's remaining Cosmic De-Evolution Tour gigs with the B-52's, in England.
