The Museum of Illusions is opening a second UK location in London this May, featuring unique exhibits like a 'Ghost Room' and gravity-defying illusions.
Disney secretly owns nearly all the homes on the east side of Keystone Street, creating a living picture of single-family paradise in sunny Los Angeles. The long run of houses, driveways and front lawns looks that way because the Walt Disney Company demands it.
It is with heavy hearts we would like to share with you personally that this season at Coney Beach will be our last. It's the end of an era. For over 100 years we and other showmen and their families have lived and worked in Porthcawl helping to make it a busy seaside destination bringing fun, laughter, and fond memories to so many.
The M2x2 is largely a 3D-printed case for a Mac Mini, one you can freely print at home yourself, but it's not just a shell. He's outfitted it with a 7-inch IPS touchscreen display, and a full array of additional ports and SD card reader thanks to an integrated USB-C hub.
A steam train featuring in the upcoming Harry Potter television series is scheduled to visit the Epping Ongar Railway this spring, including the Easter weekend. The nearly 80-year old steam locomotive 6989 'Wightwick Hall' will star as the Hogwarts Express in the TV series. Repainted into red livery for its television role, the locomotive is expected to operate steam-hauled services along the Epping Ongar Railway throughout April.
Step inside Don't Tell Dad and you're immediately greeted by a warm, low-lit vintage atmosphere. When we arrived, a funky soundtrack was drifting over dark wood floors, while super-comfy olive-green velvet banquettes, booths, and bar stools offered a front-row view of the kitchen in action. Wood panels with coloured glass windows, marble-topped tables set with linen napkins, and vintage cutlery and candle holders hint at 1930s Art Deco elegance, while oval mirrors and playful statement lighting reinforce the space's French bistro vibes.
The charming Amersham fairground organ museum, which is usually open a few Sundays per year, has now started offering guided tours. The occasional open days are more a chance to sit and listen to the old fair organs playing their pipes, and have a nice lunch at the same time. However, the guided tours, which will take place on Saturdays, will offer a deeper dive into their collection of organs and the music cards that control them.
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground.
Getty Images Footfall in London's West End reached its highest level since 2020 over the 2025 festive season, new figures show. The Heart of London Business Alliance (HOLBA) said visitor numbers in December were up 19% on the same month in 2024 across its central London district. The area, which includes Piccadilly, Leicester Square and Haymarket, also recorded longer visits, with people staying an average of 42 minutes more than in December 2024.
The storytelling shift moves the Star Wars timeline in Galaxy's Edge back three decades before the birth of Kylo Ren who has been the central villain of the unfolding story in Black Spire Outpost on the Star Wars planet of Batuu ever since Galaxy's Edge debuted at Disneyland in 2019. Imagineering and Lucasfilm knew that Darth Vader and Kylo Ren could never appear side by side in Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland
Probably my favorite thing about the Lego Smart Play system unveiled this week at CES is that it was designed for kids, first and foremost. In the past 10 years or so, Lego has increasingly courted an older audience with more expensive and elaborate sets. But when it was time to bring more advanced technology to Lego, the idea right from the beginning was more social and interactive play.
A man fell asleep underneath an oak tree in Placerita Canyon, in what's now the Newhall area of Santa Clarita. As he slept, he dreamed of finding gold. When Francisco López awoke, he pulled up wild onions growing nearby and discovered gold clinging to their roots. The legend is real - or at least parts of it. We'll never know if López really dreamed of gold, but we know he found it and that it was the first recorded discovery of gold in the state.
Ever since I was little, I've been a die-hard Disney fan - in fact, most of my T-shirts, hats, and sweatshirts have Mickey on them. I've been to Disney World in Florida more than 20 times and to Disneyland in California more than 10 times. Every time is better than the next, and it's all worth every penny. That's even as the cost of visiting Disney parks has increased over the years, thanks to factors including inflation, rising labor costs, and changes to its pricing approach.
According to recent data, over 2 million people are typically out and about across the capital between 9pm and midnight, with around 1 million remaining active later into the night, in a testament to the city's enduring after-dark draw. A "rain check" no longer has to mean disappointment, though. Across the capital, nightlife has evolved into something far more flexible than a simple pub-to-club circuit. Dining, entertainment, gaming and culture increasingly blend into evenings that feel intentional rather than improvised.
