The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, Episode 141: Juve finish up March in a big, big way

It's always fun to beat Inter Milan. It's even better to beat Inter at the San Siro. It's the best when Juventus beat Inter at the San Siro and we get to bask in it for the next couple of weeks because there is an international break upon us for the first time in 2023.That is indeed the case as Juve followed up their advancement to the Europa League quarterfinals with one of their biggest wins of the season - both because of the opponent, the location as well as the fact that they moved even close to the top six in Serie A.
It was one heck of a way to finish up the March portion of the schedule as we now wait for Juventus' contingent of internationals to come back from their national team duty without any kind of injury or anything close to it.

Today on Pinstripe Alley - 5/2/23

For a second there, it looked like the Yankees might come into today with a little bit of momentum. If they could just convert on a gem from Domingo German, they would be able to send Gerrit Cole out today with a chance to win a series and start a winning streak.Instead, the misery continues.Today on the site, we've got lots of prospect content for you, as Marcus recaps the last week on the farm, and also runs down how the Yankees' high minors unfortunately don't have much immediate reinforcements to offer the big league club.

Stupid Super Bowl Saturday idea is far worse than any change the NFL could actually make

Chris Perkins: Dolphins follow familiar theme (talented player/elevated injury risk) with addition of David Long Jr.

Chalk one up for Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier.Actually, I should say chalk up one more for Grier, and I mean that on a couple of levels. The Dolphins recently signed inside linebacker David Long Jr. from the Tennessee Titans during free agency, and by most accounts Miami got a versatile and athletic player.

Report: Anthony Davis will play in final Lakers back-to-back of season

When Anthony Davis sat out against the Houston Rockets on the second night of the Los Angeles Lakers' most recent back-to-back last week, he (and the team) received quite a bit of criticism locally, and even nationally.Few cared that head coach Darvin Ham described Davis' foot as "an active injury" that the team is still treating, or about reports that the team had always planned to continue sitting Davis on the second night of back-to-backs regardless of how many minutes he played on night one.

Will 'educational freedom' handcuff Texas' public schools?

TEXAS, USA For Dr. Michelle Smith, there is some irony in the new 'educational freedom' bill filed in the Texas Senate. The longtime public school advocate finds it odd that a bill meant to help parents send their kids from public school to private school does not actually help parents whose kids are already attending a private school.

Pelicans were 'close' to trade for Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt before Lakers swooped in

While so much has been made about the re-acquisition of D'Angelo Russell and what he means to the Lakers in his return but the players that came in the trade with him - Jarred Vanderbilt and Malik Beasley - have made big impacts in their own regard.Neither's impact has been quite as statistically prevalent as D'Lo's, but both have made an impact.

Jason Kelce's criticism of Cowboys' Jerry Jones looks foolish after Brandin Cooks trade

Most of the criticism Jerry Jones has taken over the year s has been warranted.Assuming he's manning the controls, or is at least co-piloting the Dallas Cowboys' offseason, though, Jones is working his way towards an owed apology, if he hasn't already reached that point. There's still work that needs to be done, but the Cowboys have hardly put a foot wrong this offseason and they made another statement move early Sunday by striking a trade for Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

NFL rumors: Dolphins could steal former division rival in free agency

The Miami Dolphins have interest from a big free agent who just so happens to have spent the past six seasons in the AFC East division. The Miami Dolphins made it to the playoffs for the first time since 2016 in head coach Mike McDaniel's first year on the job.In the Wild Card Round, they put up a fight against the Buffalo Bills even with third-string quarterback Skylar Thompson starting, but narrowly lost 34-31.
