Jupyter & IPython terminology explained
IPython was first released in 2006 as an interactive version of the Python shell with unique features like object introspection and magic commands.
The split in 2015 led to the renaming of the IPython Notebook to the Jupyter Notebook, with a new name inspired by the languages Julia, Python, and R. [ more ]
