SK hynix posts surprise profit after AI boostsmemory prices
South Korean memory-maker SK hynix posted a surprise profit for Q4 2022, with revenue of ₩11.3 trillion ($8.46 billion) and a profit of ₩346 billion ($259.4 million). This was attributed to increased business demand for memory for AI applications.
DDR5 sales grew fourfold year on year, while HBM3 surged by five times last year's sales, driven by Nvidia's large orders. SK hynix also mentioned that the price environment for memory has improved, indicating rising memory prices. [ more ]
