Facebook celebrates its 20th birthday on February 4 as the world's largest social media platform with over three billion monthly active users.
The idea behind Facebook was originally an offshoot of Mark Zuckerberg's previous project called Facemash, which led to disciplinary action against him.
Facebook grew rapidly in popularity, spreading to other college campuses and eventually opening up to users aged 13 and above with internet access. [ more ]
