Investigators at the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have reported that a small label wrapped around a critical wire that was plugged into one of the many terminal boxes on the cargo ship had, over the course of years, caused the wire to come loose, tripping a breaker and causing the initial power outage on the ship.

Data center fires are rare, with about two dozen well-known incidents over the past decade across thousands of facilities globally. However, the growing demand for generative AI is increasing the power needs of data centers, making them potentially more vulnerable to fires. The intense load from advanced computations can lead to overheating or malfunctions.
