3 months agoBritish lawmaker calls for 'dignity in death' after Brianna Ghey killing
Labour Party MP Charlotte Nichols is pushing for an amendment to the UK's Gender Recognition Act that would allow trans and non-binary individuals to be referred to by their affirmed gender in death.
Nichols's proposal is in response to a petition launched after the murder of her constituent Brianna Ghey, which gained almost 14,000 signatures.
The UK government has stated that it has no plans to change the Gender Recognition Act. [ more ]
