A Telegram-based guarantee marketplace known for advertising a broad range of illicit services appears to be winding down its operations, according to new findings from Elliptic. The blockchain intelligence company said Tudou Guarantee has effectively ceased transactions through its public Telegram groups following a period of significant growth. The marketplace is estimated to have processed over $12 billion in transactions, making it the third-largest illicit marketplace of all time.
In a statement posted on X, SpaceX's senior vice president of commercial business, Lauren Dreyer, said the company had "proactively identified and disabled over 2,500 Starlink Kits in the vicinity of suspected scam centers" in Myanmar. She added that SpaceX "complies with local laws in all 150+ markets where Starlink is licensed to operate" and takes "appropriate action" when it detects violations of its acceptable use policy or applicable law.
Blocking all A2P messages means operators are unable to distinguish between spam and legitimate service texts, affecting vital communications like bank notifications and two-factor authentication.
