On St Patrick's Day 2024, while families across the country celebrated, gardaí made a grim discovery, the body of a young woman in a canal just outside Monaghan town. She was 23-year-old Kelly Marie Lynch. Kelly's death was first rumoured as a suicide, then later described as a tragic accident. But from the very beginning, her family were adamant Kelly did not take her own life, and she did not fall into that canal.

My opinion is that his death was most likely caused by strangulation pressure rather than hanging. Given all the information now available, further investigation into the cause and manner of death is warranted, he said.
