The Senate unanimously approved a bill Thursday to partially reopen the Department of Homeland Security, sending it back to the House as Washington edges closer to ending the longest-ever partial government shutdown.
Kennedy explained his resolution would change senate rules to provide that when we are in a shutdown, that senators cannot be paid, cannot receive their salaries. Their checks would be locked in a vault.
Trump wins 69% of cases before Trump-appointed district judges. Now compare that to: 21% win rate before non-Trump Republican appointees and 38.6% win rate before Democratic appointees. Earlier Republican-appointed judges rule against Trump at a rate approaching four out of five cases. That means Trump's 69% success rate before his own appointees isn't some partisan alignment, but rather a notable statistical anomaly.
From a hearty handshake and Trump telling him, 'Thank you, won't forget it' last year to getting bypassed in the handshake line at this year's State of the Union, it's been a long strange trip for Roberts. And yet he wouldn't have it any other way because for Roberts, ritualistic humiliation is a small price to pay for dismantling the Voting Rights Act.

Powell responded by releasing a video saying the renovations and his testimony to Congress are pretexts to hide the real reason, which is that the chairman has resisted President Donald Trump's pleas to dramatically slash interest rates to try to boost economic activity.
WASHINGTON -- Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton finalized an agreement with House Republicans Tuesday to testify in a House investigation into Jeffrey Epstein this month, bowing to the threat of a contempt of Congress vote against them. Hillary Clinton will testify before the House Oversight Committee on Feb. 26 and Bill Clinton will appear on Feb. 27. It will mark the first time that lawmakers have compelled a former president to testify.
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson attended the Grammy Awards over the weekend because her memoir, "Lovely One," was nominated for Best Audio Book, Narration & Storytelling Recording. She lost to the Dalai Lama. Which, honestly... fair. Anyway, that should be the end of it, but it's 2026 and Republicans need to find something to talk about instead of unleashing untrained, armed thugs on Minnesota to kidnap journalists and murder civilians, so Justice Jackson's award nomination is the new ethics scandal.
