A male victim was found with a fatal gunshot wound Wednesday morning on Turk Street, near the entrance of Aunt Charlie's Lounge, a few doors in from Taylor Street. As Mission Local reports, police responded to the scene just before 9 am, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, after life-saving measures were attempted. The victim has not yet been publicly identified. But police have made an arrest.
The Police Commission, the civilian agency overseeing the Oakland Police Department, is inviting the public to weigh in on the search for the department's leader at six upcoming community forums. All forums are free and open to all. Meetings will also be broadcast via Zoom for those who cannot attend in person, though it will be listen-only.

A motorcyclist who died in a crash on a rural road connecting Contra Costa and Alameda counties has been identified as a Brentwood resident. Curtis Carr, 54, died Monday morning after crashing on Vasco Road. The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office identified him publicly. The crash happened about 5 a.m. as Carr rode south and was just north of Dyer Road.
A 41-year-old transient with a history of arrests for burglary was nabbed again on a person's back porch Monday, thanks to a tip from a resident who reported a trespasser, police said. The arrest happened after officers were called about 4:25 p.m.to the 1700 block of Liberty Street. In a statement, police said a homeowner was alerted to activity on the property after an alarm was triggered. The resident then looked at video footage from the alert and saw an unknown person inside the yard.
SAN BRUNO - A shooting and fire are under investigation in San Bruno, police said. The incident was reported just after 3:30 p.m. Friday at a two-story home in the 100 block of Keefe Court, a cul-de-sac located off Rosewood Drive, according to the San Bruno Police Department. Additional details about the incident were not immediately available. In an update around 5:15 p.m., police said the scene was still active and asked the public to avoid the area.
