Scotiabank Arena will be welcoming a whole new group of hoopers this weekend as the Raptors' home plays host to the first ever WNBA game in Canada.The Minnesota Lynx and Chicago Sky will face off Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. in front of a 22,000 strong sold out crowd.While still a preseason game for both teams, all eyes will be on Toronto for this historic event.

The Washington Mystics will have the No. 4 overall selection in the 2023 WNBA Draft, after the lottery was decided on Friday evening.The No. 3 pick went to the Atlanta Dream, the No. 2 pick to the Minnesota Lynx and the No. 1 pick next season will go to the Indiana Fever, who have won the lottery for the first time in franchise history.

The Washington Mystics seal off the preseason with a win over the Atlanta Dream, 88-76.They finished preseason at 1-1.Elena Delle Donne had a game-high 17 points followed by Brittney Sykes with 13 points.Emily Engstler off the bench had 11 points and eight rebounds.Tianna Hawkins and Elena Tsineke both added seven points apiece.

The Washington Mystics have made their first cuts of the roster.They have waived Alisia Jenkins and Evina Westbrook.This is coming after playing the first preseason game on Friday May 5.In that preseason game, Westbrook had seven points, three rebounds and one assist in 26 minutes of play.Jenkins in only 10 minutes had four points and three fouls.

Starting this month, the games for the month will be briefly analyzed to overview key games, games that must be watched or even fun matchups that could make headlines.The month of May in the WNBA is very busy with everything starting to go full swing.Training camp has begun and it's time to go to work.

The Sparks, and its new leadership, began the offseason rebuild of the roster by acquiring veteran guard Jasmine Thomas on Monday in a multiple-player trade with the Connecticut Sun.Thomas, a 12-year veteran who played seven seasons with the Sun under new Sparks coach Curt Miller, was acquired along with the 10th overall selection in the 2023 WNBA draft.
