The 2026 Hall of Fame Class will be announced on Tuesday. Several former Braves on on the ballot for consideration, but the one name that likely is being followed the most is Andruw Jones. In his 9th and second to last year of initial eligibility, Jones is projected to have a very good shot at finally being inducted. While many in Braves Country have been known for years Jones deserves the honor, we will know if it happens in reality in less than 24 hours.
On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, the Baseball Hall of Fame will likely gain new inductees when the results of the Baseball Writers' Association of America vote will be announced at 6PM Eastern on the MLB Network. These possible inductees will join second baseman Jeff Kent who was some-what surprisingly elected by the Contemporary Baseball Era Committee last December. Long-time big league outfielder Carlos Beltran is considered a near-lock to be elected.
Also on this day in Dodgers history - but in 2010 -- the Dodgers avoided salary arbitration with Matt Kemp by agreeing to a two-year, $10.95 million contract. Kemp was coming off a career season in which he batted .297/.352/.490 with 25 doubles, seven triples, 26 home runs, 101 RBI and 34 stolen bases over 668 plate appearances (162 games). He finished 10th in National League MVP voting that year while also winning his first career Silver Slugger and Gold Glove Awards.
