The Eagles' mega-selling compilation Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 has become the first album to ever be certified quadruple diamond for sales of 40 million copies in the United States. The best-of collection remains the biggest-selling album in the States, and interestingly was the first album to be certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The RIAA also newly certified the Eagles' 1976 album Hotel California as 28-times platinum.

It would be considered a success for most artists, 100,000 albums in the first week, in an era when we don't sell physical music. But it's a failure in the context of the kind of success I've had previously. And that's the hardest part of having been a pop star once, because I'm not one anymore, and I'm being compared to people that I don't consider lateral to me.
