A man has been injured after the van he was driving exploded after it hit the ceiling of an underground car park in south-west London, the Metropolitan Police has said. The force was called to reports of an explosion at a shopping centre on Queen's Road, Wimbledon at 10:10 GMT on Monday. The London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade (LFB) were also called to the scene.

The former Wimbledon champion Angela Mortimer-Barrett has died at the age of 93. Mortimer-Barrett defeated fellow Briton Christine Truman to win the 1961 ladies' singles title, three years after losing her first final against Althea Gibson.
