San Jose State University is leasing and plans to buy the south tower of the Signia Hilton to house 700 to 800 students.
There are several smaller projects in downtown San Jose, including a new restaurant, housing towers, a food hall, a cannabis dispensary, and a pedestrian bridge.

San Jose State University plans to purchase a former hotel tower to convert into student housing in downtown San Jose.
The university will house 700 to 800 students in the tower starting in fall 2024.
SJSU aims to exercise its option to become the permanent owner of the tower by December 2025.
