Protests are also planned in the Danish cities of Aarhus, Aalborg, and Odense. The demonstration in Greenland's capital, Nuuk, is scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm (1500 GMT), according to the organizers, who say it is "against the United States' illegal plans to take control of Greenland." Demonstrators are set to march to the US consulate carrying Greenlandic flags. At least 900 people in Greenland said on its Facebook page that they planned to participate in the event.
Anastasios Bakasetas' seventh-minute strike gave Greece a deserved opener, and second-half strikes from Konstantinos Karetsas and Christos Tzolis looked to have condemned Scotland to the play-offs. Scotland, though, fought back in a remarkable second half, Ben Gannon-Doak and Ryan Christie teeing up a grandstand finish, with the tension heightened by a red card for Bakasetas and developments in Copenhagen. With Scotland losing, a win for Denmark against Belarus would have essentially clinched their place in the finals in North America.
Germans may have a hard-won reputation for being Europe's most enthusiastic nudists, but a survey suggests Danes are not only more accepting of stripping off in public, but more likely to have actually done so. The YouGov survey of six western European countries the UK, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy and Spain found that Danes were the most likely to say it was perfectly OK to bare all in public places and to have followed through.
The Netherlands took another commanding step toward World Cup 2026 qualification with a 4-0 win over Finland in Amsterdam. Ronald Koeman's side blew their visitors away with a ruthless first-half display, and a late Cody Gakpo strike capped off a dominant evening for the Oranje. It took just eight minutes for Donyell Malen to open the scoring, curling home from Memphis Depay's clever one-two. Depay then turned provider again nine minutes later, delivering a perfect free-kick for Virgil van Dijk to head in and double the lead.
Marko Arnautovic scored four goals as Austria stormed to a 10-0 rout over San Marino in World Cup qualifying on Thursday. Ralf Rangnick's side went two points clear at the top of Group H, and massively improved their goal difference, with a stunning victory at Ernst-Happel-Stadion. Romano Schmid opened the scoring seven minutes in, with Arnautovic getting his first of the match just one minute later. Stefan Posch then played a role in each of the next three goals, setting up Michael Gregoritsch before getting a 12-minute brace for himself. Konrad Laimer also netted on the stroke of half-time to give Austria a six-goal advantage at the break.
