Gymnastics legend Simone Biles attended the Winter Games with her husband, Jonathan Owens, and she was in the arena on Feb. 13, when the self-proclaimed "Quad God" finished in an unexpected eighth place in the men's singles event. Biles reached out to Malinin afterward, and she even crashed his Access Hollywood interview to share some wisdom on Feb. 17. The GOAT & The Quad God
The game was somewhat reminiscent to Sweden's 5-2 win over Italy earlier in the week, with the States dominating on the shot clock but suffering from some less than stellar goaltending to keep the game tight headed into the final frame. The Danes pushed the States to the point where they trailed 4-3 going into the third period, but the States kept the pressure up and eventually scored two goals to ice the game and take the 6-3 victory.
It's getting to be tradition, it seems. When Canada takes to the ice in best-on-best competition, the country stands up a little straighter, red maple leafed jerseys become acceptable work attire(and invitations for high-fives from strangers, naturally), the water cooler becomes a daily hotstove to discuss powerplay formations and goaltending development, and gold is the only acceptable shade of medal.
