Bud Harrelson, former New York Mets shortstop, has died at the age of 79 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Harrelson was a key player in the Mets' miraculous 1969 World Series win and their championship victory in 1986.
Harrelson's greatest achievement in baseball was his decades of work with the Long Island Ducks, an independent minor league team he helped start and run. [ more ]
