Creating a minimalist bedroom storage solution led to a DIY project of making open closet rails from pipes. Traditional wardrobes felt too bulky, prompting a search for hidden storage options that fit an aesthetic without compromising budget. The solution emerged from IKEA's SEKTION kitchen cabinets, which can be modified to serve as drawer units. By cutting the cabinets down for wall-mounting, a modern and sleek floating look was achieved without overcrowding the space beneath the clothing rails.
I decided to DIY the open closet I'd always wanted. I made two modern, square-shaped hanging clothes rails out of pipes that I mounted to the wall.
After ruling out dressers that didn't fit my aesthetic, budget, or space, a shopping trip to IKEA gave me an unexpected solution.
While browsing the kitchen section, I spotted a bunch of cabinets that would, with a little hacking, make the perfect drawer units.
Cutting the IKEA SEKTIONs down facilitated a sleek, floating look while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic.
